At some point during one of Jacob's many trips into the lake, disaster struck.

Underwater Metal Detecting in Zero Visibility
The recovery area consisted of approximately nine feet of water with virtually zero underwater visibility. Unlike the clear water often seen in photographs, Texas lakes frequently contain suspended sediment, making visual searches nearly impossible.
Using specialized underwater metal detecting equipment, the search began by systematically covering the area where Jacob last remembered entering and exiting the water.
Every target required investigation.
Fishing lures, beverage cans, pull tabs, and miscellaneous metallic debris were encountered throughout the search area. Each target was carefully examined while maintaining a structured search pattern designed to ensure complete coverage.
After working through several false targets, a strong signal was detected.
Moments later, the distinctive gold shape of a Texas A&M class ring emerged from the sandy lake bottom.
Success.
